new years day. 6:30 am.
I was driving back to my grandmas house in mayflower from a dear pals house where i had been staying that night. that morning was absolutely beautiful. everything was quiet and still. and when i looked out the passengers window i saw the sunrise. all pinks and oranges and reds, super swirled together combining to create a color i couldnt exactly place... and when i looked out the drivers window to see if that color i had no name for had spilled over the sky, i saw something that i did not expect. the moon. a full moon. still there. still bright in the sky on a background of light purple. i kept looking back and forth in absolute awe. both separate from one another completely yet, coexisting in the same sky. i wanted to freeze time right there and live forever with that picture as my ceiling.
but sooner than i wanted or realized, the sun began to take its throne and moon succumbed to the downward pull into darkness.
my new years resolution is to not just stay in the middle like i caught the sun and moon doing. eventually something has got to give. even though the middle can be beautiful sometimes, and easy and comfortable, it doesnt last. and i dont want it to anymore. I am in the middle with my relationships and with my faith...cause and effect in a close courters game of tag. i am ready for the diet of having my cake and eating to too to cease. too many calories :) I am going to strive, 2010, to be like the sun that took over the sky. even though it was so beautiful sharing that sky with the moon, it rose anyway. taking a chance on it maybe not being as beautiful on its own. I want to take a chance this year. too long have i waited in the middle. and i might not be beautiful at the beginning, and i might yearn for my comfy place with moon and sun every now and then, but this decision to rise out of what i am into what i can be is a good thing.
happy 2010 dears
